Online Learning FAQs

What are online classrooms and how do they work?

Happy Teacher Life uses Outschool to host virtual classes focusing on reading, math, cursive and private tutoring. I specialize in creating a personalize education plan for your child with the goal of helping them find the joy of learning. Classes consist of a variety of math facts, cursive, literacy skills including phonics and phonemic awareness games, reading and comprehension activities and writing.

How do you ensure high-quality classes?

All parents/guardians are encouraged to passively participate in the class; this means hear, but not be heard. If any concerns concerns arise about the quality of the lessons or class disruptions, please don’t hesitate to reach out via email. I do my best to ensure the classes are full of learning and void of distractions. Classes are high-quality in that I used research-based strategies and curriculum that is unique to each child’s learning style. I stay up-to-date on the latest research in teaching and keep a current teaching license.

What are the technology requirements?

Students take classes on Outschool all over the world! If you have a compute, tablet or iPad with a strong internet connection, you’re good to go! Many students prefer to use headphones as well so they can focus on the class.

How do you ensure safety in classes?

One way I make sure that classes are safe is by guaranteeing that all attendees of classes and the individual tutoring sessions are elementary age children. All students are reminded not to share any personal information such as last names, location, social media handles etc. I ask that parents refrain from interacting in classes other than our initial lesson to discuss any goals or needs. I intend to be professional at all times, and I expect the same of our students parents. All students must be completely dressed with proper sound and video to ensure quality of lessons. All classes are recorded for the safety of the students and myself.

What is your cancellation policy?

I know plans don’t always go as “planned”, I do try to be understanding. All classes have a standard refund policy meaning you will receive a refund within 24 hours of payment until your next meeting or lesson access begins. Because all classes are recorded and materials are available, even if you miss a class, you will still be able to view the recording and have access to class materials, therefore a refund must be within 24 hours of payment.

My learner has special needs. Is this online format a good fit?

I welcome learners of all needs and capacities. I have experience teaching children with various special needs and learning disabilities. My tutoring sessions may allow for both gifted learners to extend their learning and for learners in need of academic support to get the individual attention they require.
